SOUTHERN PS-4

In their striking green and gold livery, the Southern PS-4 remains one of the most beautiful steam locomotives to ever ride the rails. First delivered in the mid-1920s, the colorful Pacific- types were inspired by English steamers of the era. With their 73" drivers and 4-6-2 wheel configuration the PS-4's hauled the Southern's signature passenger varnish to speeds up to 80 miles per hour. Available separately for the first time, this new scale-sized locomotive includes many distinguishing details and upgraded features. Complete with a brakeman's stand and Walschaerts valve gear, the Lionel model portrays the PS-4 as she would have looked in the late 1930s through 1940s. Now equipped with the RailSounds 5.0 sound system, the Lionel PS-4 also features a new DynaChuff synchronized chuffing effect with a rate of four chuffs per revolution. NEW Separately applied details include whistle rod, bell cord, brakeman's stand and Walschaerts valve gear NEW Realistic separately applied coal load NEW Synchronized smoke unit with adjustable smoke output. Realistic operator- controlled effects, including the water injector, activated by the CAB-1 Remote Controller ALL-NEW prototypical four chuffs per revolution DynaChuff synchronized chuffing that shifts through 15 levels of intensity as the locomotive gains speed Simulate the locomotive running light or battling against a heavy load by manually adjusting the DynaChuff intensity with CAB-1 commands. MultiWhistle effect simulates blows at different steam pressures, long and short attacks, and even extra quilling with each press of the whistle button. Independently adjustable volume control-use the CAB-1 Remote Controller to lower the level of background effects such as chuffing while keeping operator-controlled effects such as the whistle at full volume.
