NYC L2A MOHAWK

  • By the 1920s, rolling stock became heavier and freight schedules became tighter. The New York Central Railroad turned to the American Locomotive Company to build a 4-8-2 freight locomotive that could run at near passenger service speeds
  • They were an instant success and given the name Mohawk in honor of the river that ran along the NYC mainline west of Albany
  • In 1925, Alco delivered an improved version, the L-2. This class would prove to be the most numerous fleet of Mohawks, running throughout the NYC system until the 1950s. Producing 72,700 pounds of tractive effort and 3,320 horsepower, the L-2A was equally at home leading long coal drags or speeding down the mainline with a fast freight consist
  • This new Lionel model portrays L-2A #2770 in the last half of her career dressed in the "blade" lettering style of modern New York Central steam power.
  • Upgraded with the latest RailSounds 5.0 sound system, the L-2A includes the most realistic four chuffs per revolution effect in O gauge. Listen to the intensity and cadence when the chuffs prototypically change as the locomotive gains speedTrainMaster Command Control equipped and is able to run in Command Control Mode with the Handheld or in Conventional Transformer Control Mode
  • Additional Features:
  • Odyssey System for speed control with ON/OFF switch
  • New RailSounds 5.0 sound system with custom recorded effects including: Multi-part CrewTalk dialog and TowerCom announcements to create realistic operating scenarios from pulling out of the yard to initiating an emergency stop, in both conventional and command control environments
  • Realistic operator-controlled effects, including the water injector, activated by the CAB-1 Remote Controller
  • All-new prototypical four chuffs per revolution DynaChuff synchronized chuffing that shifts through 15 levels of intensity as the locomotive gains speed
  • Simulate the locomotive running light or battling against a heavy load by manually adjusting the DynaChuff intensity with CAB-1 commands
  • MultiWhistle effect simulates blows at different steam pressures, long and short attacks, and even extra quilling with each press of the whistle button
  • Independently adjustable volume control; you can -use the CAB-1 Remote Controller to lower the level of background effects such as chuffing while keeping operator- controlled effects such as the whistle at full volume
  • FatBoy speaker for the ultimate in sound reproduction
  • High-torque Pittmanr motor with momentum flywheel. Wireless Tether connection between locomotive and tender Directional lighting including operating headlight and back-up light. Illuminated classification and marker lights
