C&O F-19 4-6-2 PACIFIC STEAM LOCO #490 (TMCC)

This loco classic was built by Lionel in 2007. In the 1930s, the Chesapeake & Ohio developed the Class F-19 4-6-2 steam locomotive to pull its elegant heavyweight passenger trains, including The George Washington and The Sportsman. Locomotive #490 joins #494 on the Lionel roster. With the cameo of the first president of the United States-and honorary president of the St. James River Canal Company, a C&O predecessor--on the feedwater heater, #494 is fitted with a sign board on the tender, emblazoned with "The George Washington." Sister locomotive, #490, is decorated with a colonial eagle on its feedwater heater. Heavyweight passenger cars for The George Washington are available separately. Advertised as "The Most Wonderful Train in the World," this was the world's first air-conditioned train. Operating over the 599 miles between Washington, D.C. and Cincinnati, Ohio, it set a new standard for excellence. This is truly a 1/48" scale classic.
