Created by the Lima Locomotive Company, Berkshires were among the last great steam locomotive designs and were dubbed the original "Superpowers".The Nickel Plate Road is well-known for their famous, restored 2-8-4 steamer that is still in operation today - involved in current excursion events and public display. The Nickel Plate #765 and Pere Marquette #1225 Berkshires, along with five other steam locomotives, operated at rainFest 2009 in Owasso, MI to the delight of thousands of steamer fans. Lionel's scale Berkshire locomotives come equipped with the latest LEGACY features and sounds, Odyssey II Speed Control, and feature superb detail including separately applied piping and accurate builder's plates. |
