1997 LIONEL CENTENNIAL SERIES GP-9 LOCOMOTIVE

 

From 1997-2000, Lionel started celebrating their 100 year Centennial in 2000. In each year, 1997-2000, they offered a modern diesel locomotive and unit-train decorated with one of lionel's historic logos. 1997 saw this GP-9 with their new LLC Corporate Logo. FEATURES: Command equipped(TMCC), railsounds 2.5TM, Pullmor motor, Magne-Traction, interior illumination, electronic E-Unit, dual-end electrocouplers, directional headlighting, Strobe warning beacon atop cab, all metal handrails, Engine #1997, metal frame, die-cast trucks, ornamental metal diesel horns, highly detailed painted Lionel color graphics. This special locomotive is equipped with a special and unique Railsounds featuring "Cab Talk" by engineer NEIL YOUNG. This was the best engine in the Centennial series. A special 4-car set of High-Cube Lionel Centennial Series boxcars were made to go along with the engine in the same paint scheme.
