Christmas OPERATING REINDEER CAR
The reindeer ducks down when the railcar passes under the telltails, then pops his head up again. Do you know what a telltail is? They were lightweight strings of wire which hung down to alert any crewman walking on top of a car that he was approaching a low bridge and to lay down quickly until the car came out of the other side. They would rub his face and perhaps sting slightly so he got the message. |
