|
Built 2000. The famous industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss was hired by the New York Central Railroad in the 1930's to merge the sleekness of airliners with the hard lines of current day steam locomotives. This industrial challenge was known as "STREAMLINING". At the same time, the Pennsylvannia RR gave the same challenge to Richard Lowery to create the smoothe lines of the GG-1 electric loco. Both were great sucesses of that era.
