SANTA FE 4-8-4 NORTHERN STEAM LOCO AND TENDER

  • Originally delivered by Baldwin in 1927, the Santa Fe # 3751 was the first of an eventual fleet of 65 to run along the Santa Fe's 2,200 mile mainline.
  • After a 26 year career in service, and subseqent years as a dormant park display, the Northern was restored to be fully operational and is running today
  • The Lionel model will run on O-54 or larger radius track, is 27 1/4 inches long, and has every feature Lionel has to offer. It is a full scale model with all the details of the original, including the changes when the loco was converted in 1936 to an oil burner with a 20,000 gallon tender and rebuilt again in 1941 with 80 inch drivers and a single sand dome
  • The re-built 4-8-4 produced 66,000 pounds of starting tractive effort and generated 3,600 drawbar horsepower. Her maximum speed reached 90 miles per hour
  • The Lionel model, while not quite capable of delivering 66,000 pounds of tractive effort, will offer stirling performance for any asignment on any model railroad, and can run at well above a scale 90 miles per hour
  • Runs with full TMCC or with conventional transformer control, has electocouplers and interchangeable scale and knuckle front couplers for double heading
