NORFOLK & WESTERN J CLASS 611 SAVE $250.00

In 1950, three J class steamers rolled out of the Norfolk & Western Railway's famed Roanoke shops. Fatefully, they would prove the last 4-8-4's built in America. The bullet-nosed behemoths sped signature trains such as the Powhatan Arrow along the N&W's entire 676 mile mainline often at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour. Although retired from service after less than a decade, one of the graceful J's remained a true steam survivor. N&W #611 headed excursion runs as late as the mid- 1990s and is currently on display at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. This new, scale-sized Lionel model specifically portrays the #611 during the height of her passenger service with a vented pilot, solid pilot wheels and a flat tender deck. Along with these details, the J includes a wide array of enhancements from its original 2001 release. These new features range from the RailSounds 5.0 sound system to smaller, more prototypically sized classification lights.A matching set of Powhatan Arrow passenger cars is also available. FEATURES:
