Originally developed to prevent overheating in the m any tunnels and snow sheds of the Southern Pacifics mountain routes, the Tunnel Motors could often be found wandering far from those hills. Most of the venerable locomotives outlived the Espee and Rio Grande to find new careers on the Union Pacific, leasing companies and regional railroads all around the country. Offered in some of the classic original schemes as well as the kaleidoscope of new patched and repainted schemes. T he patriotic Cotton Belt 9389 represents a unique bicentennial scheme applied to the similar SD45T-2 - but just too cool not to offer on our model!
