ERIE-LACKAWANNA F3 ABBA - 2 LOCOMOTIVES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.

  • 'The Finest Model Diesel in the World' was the headline in the 1948 Lionel Catalog when F3's were first introduced, and we think this applies today as well
  • Full scale, the ABBA is 52 inches long, and will operate on any 31 inch or larger diameter 0 gauge layout, including fastrack
  • You can run the units as 2 seperate locos hauling 2 seperate trains, each powered by an AB and each controlled seperately on the same single track or on seperate tracks using the TMCC handheld controller
  • You can also operate the units as a massive 4 unit ABBA loco (capable of pulling over 100 cars)
  • The package consists of a powered A, powered B, a non-powered A and a non-powered B. (A units have engineers cabs, B units don't have a cab) The powered A and powered B both have 2 (maintenance free) motors, giving you a super-powered ABBA set with 4 motors. (We once saw an F3 on the Lackawanna with 2 A's and 5 B's pulling what must have been 200 cars!)
  • Maroon Grey and Yellow F3'S were the original power for the Phoebe Snow, and the Lackawanna's paint scheme was judged 2nd best in a nationwide diesel design contest held by the AAR amongst all the railroads (The Santa Fe was the winner).
  • The F3's were carried into the merger of the Erie and Lackawanna, and the Lackawanna Scheme was adopted by the Erie-Lackawanna, preserving this beautiful color scheme up until the days of Conrail Blues
  • Magnetraction plus traction tires provides enormous pulling power and traction never before available in an F3
  • Indeed, this deluxe loco has every feature that Lionel has to offer, including maintenance free motors, TMCC, Odyssey, Railsound and Crewtalk, die cast bases, frames, pilots and trucks, new superdetailed F3 bodies, opening doors, builders plates, pivoting diaphrams, engineer and fireman figures
  • Both powered and dummy A's have fan driven smoke units, although Lackawanna Management and Miss Phoebe Snow would flip if the highly maintained Lackawanna Units ever smoked - but in Erie Lackawanna livery they did begin to smoke as maintenance fell off (apologies to our Erie fans and friends) (CD10.05.02.176)
