Lionel 6-2145

MPC AUTOMATIC GATEMAN

Produced by Lionel from 1972-84, and one of the best operating accessories they've made to date. Structured identically to the postwar 145, with a few color changes, dark flat green base(shade of green changed as the years went on), white corrugated plastic shed, brown(somtimes closer to maroon) door, roof and window inserts, red and gold "LIONELVILLE" sign above the door, white Xing buck attached to the base, and unpainted blue figure with red lantern. The gateman, who is really a watchman, rushes from his lighted shed as t he train approaches. He warns pedestrians and vehicles with his swinging lantern and returns when the train passes. Also comes with a pressure plate. Measures 6"*7" base area, and 4 1/2" high. 1972 came in a rare one year only window box, and was made of left postwar parts.
