Lionel 6-2317

OPERATING REMOTE CONTROL DRAWBRIDGE RARE

Operating Drawbridge built by Lionel from 1975-81. This has become the most desirable accessory built by MPC, and one of there better operators. Very difficult to find mint. Features; tan base, dark gray span, gray supports, has binding post hook-ups, green tender house, one full length of O-27 track and two half sections. This was Fundimensions first original operating accessory(the design came from the postwar 313 Bascule Brigde). Note that it was designed with O-27 track, that was prevalent at the tome, but it can modified to work with O gauge track. When the bottun is pushed, warning bell rings and the lift part of the bridge raises, cutting power to the train on the upper part of the bridge and allowing another train to pass through the bridge gap. A second push of the button lowers the bridge and restores power. The 2317 can be wired for fully automatic operation. It's contemporary appearance made it very attractive to operators and collectors. With the size of todays trains, the base would have to be raised to a higher level.
