BING WIND-UP LOCO, TENDER AND 2 CARS

Bing - also known as Gebrder Bing - was a German toy company that at one point was the largest and most successful toy company on the planet. They began making toys in 1880 and O Gauge trains in 1895. In the 1910s and 1920s, they fiercely competed with Ives, A.C. Gilbert, and Lionel in the United States. However, facing stiff tariffs imposed on German imports as well as growing competition from the other toy train companies and the impact of World War I on Germany, the Bing Company was in serious financial trouble by 1927. The owner, Stephan Bing, and his son left the company that year. By 1932, the company was insolvent and in 1933 they went out of business.
