2-4-2 GUNMETAL ENGINE & TENDER

 

The 1689 was Lionel's O27 version of the Commodore Vanderbilt engine. Some came with 1689W tenders while some came with 1689T tenders. It was made in 1936 and 1937. It had red marker lights on the front and a nameplate that read "1689E LIONEL LINES 1689E." It features a headlight and 3 position E-unit. The tender has a whistle and solenoid-operated coupler in the rear.
