Lionel pre-225e

2-6-2 STEAM ENGINE WITH 2235W TENDER

Built from 1938 until 1942. Both engine and tender are diecast. The 225E came out in 1938 and was the only one of the diecast unstreamlined steamers that did not look like a Hudson. The 225 has a super-heater cylinder at the top of the boiler front with a two level running board. In 1939 the 225E came with the 2235W and 2245W diecast tenders. Both engines and tenders came in gray or black, with the gray version being made in 1939 only. The final production version of the 225E was painted black and came with a 2235 tender with plastic body.
