Lionel pre-265e black

265E BLACK COMMODORE VANDERBILT(1936)

The 265E was the deluxe version of the 264E. Introduced the same year, the two locomotives differed in that the 265E incorporated an eccentric crank and associeted rods, giving it a more pleasing and realistic appearance. As first issued, the 265E was painted black and was supplied with the 261TX tender. This tender did not include a rear coupler, but instead had a second drawdar that was used to connect the string of chrome articulated passenger cars that came with it.
