Lionel pre-36
36 OLIVE GREEN OBSERVATION CAR
First offered in 1912, the 35 Pullman car, along with its companion the 36 Observation car, continued to be cataloged until 1926. With such a long production run, it's not surprising these cars exist in many colors and variations. About 1918, the underside of the car began to be rubber-stamped "MADE IN U.S.A. - THE LIONEL CORPORATION - NEW YORK". The decorative gold, rubber-stamped box reappeared surrounding "Observation" applied under the windows. "NEW YORK CENTRAL LINES" continued to be rubber-stamped above the windows and "36" began to be stamped on one end of the car. The basic color continued to be dark olive with maroon windowsills. |
