Lionel pre-392e black

4-4-2 STD GAUGE STEAM LOCO AND TENDER, BLACK WITH BRASS/COPPER TRIM

Introduced in 1932, and remaining in the catalog through 1939, the 392E was Lionel's next to the top of the line Lionel Standard Gauge of the era. Its frame and hinged boiler front were die-cast. The best looking combination was with the large 12-wheeled 392T tender with whistle (either with or without whistle and in either grey or black paint). It was also cataloged with a die-cast tender with 4 wheel trucks, and with a smaller sheet metal tender with 4 wheel trucks.
