CALIFORNIA, ILLINOIS & NEW YORK GREEN STATE CAR SET (3 CARS) 1929-35 RARE

Cars were 21 and half inches long and were numbered 412 California, 413 Colorado, 414 Illinois, 416 New York observation, and compromise what is known as the State set. These were Lionel's largest, most elaborate and most expensive Standard Gauge Passenger cars. They were available from 1929 through 1935, and always had interior lighting and six-wheel trucks. The roofs of these cars were hinged to reveal a complete interior, including interior walls, seats, toilets and sinks. Combined with the 381 Electric loco, they were known as the State Set. Most sets were sold as 3 car sets, with the Illinois ommitted; hence the Illinois is much rarer that the others. All 4 cars were available for seperate sale.
