424, 425 STEPHEN GIRARD AND LIBERTY BELL PASSENGER CARS (1931-40)

 

Produced by Lionel from 1931-40. These medium- sized standard gauge passenger cars came painted in lionel's classic Stephen Girard light and dark green paint scheme. Set includes, 424 "LIBERTY BELL" pullman, and 425 "STEPHEN GIRARD" pullman. These highly detailed cars, were part of Lionel's premier line of pasenger cars. Features included; light green metal bodies and roofs, accented with dark green vestibules and roof area; cream window inserts; brass name plates; brass or nickel steps, journals, and handrails; blue-speckled celluliod upper windows; clear lower celluliod windows; roofs open on hinges and latches; operating doors; bench seats run longitudinally; six-wheel trucks with latch couplers; illuminated interior; and measures 16". Cars came in standard "Bogota Paper Corporation" box, with rubber-stamped number and usually dated. Brass trim 1931-34. Rarer nickel trim 1935 -40.
