LIONEL PRE-WAR 48W WHISTLING STATION

 

Built from 1937 to 1942. Lithographed steel walls in bright colors with "LIONEL" above windows on both ends. Lithographed removable roof. Painted base with two terminal posts at one end. Press down momentary contact switch projects from building at opposite end from terminal posts. Contains whistle without DC relay. Walls trimmed to leave 3/16 gap under eaves to allow sound to be heard. Measures 5 and a half inches x 3 and three quarter inches x 3 and three quarter inches high. Cream-yellow walls with lithographed details (blue and white windows, brown doors, foundation plants), two tone red lithographed simulated shingle roof, and a vermilion base.
