512 GREEN GONDOLA

Cataloged from 1927 until 1939, the 512 gondola was included in many sets. Like the 212, it always had a black frame, and the colors listed refer to the color of the sides. Originally supplied with barrels as cargo, some cars were furnished with a set of miniature tools. Cotter pin retained trucks with nickel journals, brass trim, brass name and number plates with black lettering. In 1930, copper journals replaced the nickel ones, and horseshoe washers replaced the cotter pin. In 1935, brass plates were replaced with aluminum ones, and the gondola now came in various shades of green.
