608 OBSERVATION CAR

 

This 7 1/2" long observation car was sold from 1926 through 1937. It utilized the same body stamping as the 609 and the final series 603 cars, a nd matched the 607 Pullman. From 1926 though 1930, the body and roof of the car were painted peacock. Orange trim and nickel journal boxes were installed. During 1931, the cars were made with a red body and roof. These cars had cream trim and nickel journal boxes. From 1931 through 1934, the body and roof of these cars began to be painted Stephen Girard green. At the same time, the trim was painted yellow and copper journal boxes began to be used. The Stephen Girard green passenger cars got nickel journal boxes in 1935, which remained in use through 1937. The trim continued to be painted yellow.
