Lionel pre-613,14,15

SET OF THREE BLUE COMET CARS (613, 614, 615)

These ten and a half inch cars were produced from 1931 through until 1934 with copper journal boxes, and in 1935 with nickel journal boxes. Cars have brass steps and handrails, terracotta and maroon roofs, terracotta sides, and cream doors and window inserts. In 1935 they became the famous "Blue Comet" cars painted in blue with two tone blue roofs, cream window inserts, with metal "vestibules" and trim, but retained the same number as the terracotta version. A red and silver version and a green version were also produced. The terracotta cars were produced with latch coupers only (the others had both latch couplers), and both manual and automatic box couplers.
