Lionel pre-751e

751 1934 UNION PACIFIC STREAMLINER (CITY OF PORTLAND)

The 1934 catalog claimed that this was the masterpiece of Lionel's engineers and their greatest achievement in thirty-five years. This time they weren't exaggerating. The set was to become one of Lionel's most popular and appeared in the catalog for many years. In 1934 the Union Pacific came only as a three-piece set, although the buyer could purchase an extra coach and vestibule for a mere $4.00.
  • This very first 752E power unit came with the word " GUAGE" misspelled on the motor nameplate.
