LIONEL 752E/752W CITY OF PORTLAND ALUMINUM STREAMLINER SET

Produced by Lionel in 1934-41. This was one of the most popular O gauge sets Lionel made. Union Pacific's City of Salina M-10000, (City of Portland was M-10001), 072, sheet metal construction except for diecast cab front and top over motor, diecast underbody which often warps and cracks (repros are available), frosted celluliod windows, rubber-stamped letters and numbers and aluminum painted bodies. The U.P. diesel locomotives came in both three and four car sets with matching articulated cars joined by separate vestibule units. Highly detailed aluminum streamliner set with two or three sheet-metal passenger cars. Three car set includes: 752E or 752W engine, 753 passenger car (4 car set came with two 753's) and 754 observation (also two vestibules). The aluminum 752E was cataloged 1934 -36. The aluminum set is much harder to find.
