840 INDUSTRIAL POWER STATION (1928-40)

 

Largest single-unit accessory ever built by Lionel, 26" wide, 21.5" deep and 18" high. Several variations include:
  • Green base, two sets of cream steps mounted on base, dark mojave floor attached to building which fits into green base, cream walls, many multi-paned green windows, orange bands around building at first- and second-floor levels, orange roof, two orange skylights (one for each wing), three smokestacks in one unit with sign reading "LIONEL" fastened across them, red sheet metal water tower, side panel with six knife switches, interior light with large socket bulb, designed to enclose two large transformers.
  • White walls, red roof and trim, different green bases. Very rare.
  • Reproductions have been made in 1985 and 1986 by T-Reproductions and Mike's Train House.
