97 MOTORIZED COAL ELEVATOR (GRAY TOWER)

First produced in 1938, suspended during WWII and revived in 1946-'50. Elevator had a black bakelite base and a sheet metal tower painted gray. A motor beneth the base powered the the chain conveyor with buckets. Each bucket lifted some coal and deposited the contents into the yellow sheet metal coal bunker where it was stored. The red sheet metal roof slides on and off. A remote controlled solenoid opened the chute door where a waiting coal car recieved the contents. This was one elaborate piece of working machinery. The controller was a combination On-Off knob and an unload button.
