LIONEL 042 LEFT & RIGHT HAND MANUAL O GAUGE SWITCHES

The switch position is contolled by the lever on the switch motor housing. These are really nice pieces for sidings on which to store engines - turn the switch points the other way, and power to the siding and the engine is cut off. Turn the handle back and the loco is powered up and ready to go. The switches are in big demand for this reason - they have not having been made by Lionel for many years. This also the way collisions are prevented in mainline service - turn the switch to the curved position and power is cut off in the straight segment (if you don't forget to put in the insulating pin!). The other great thing about manual switches is that they always work!
