BUDD SELF PROPELED DIESEL PASSENGER CARS (RDC'S)

 

Philadelphia's Budd Company built the Rail Diesel Car (RDC) to operate either as a 1 car train or in tandem of 2, 4 or more cars all controlled by a single engineer. They had a diesel eingine attached to eqach truck, under the floor, and each engine drove a single axle through a torque converter. Lionel began production in 1956 and discontinued them in 1958
