UNCATALOGUED 2029 STEAM FRT SET MINT(1968)RARITY 5

likely by-pass this run-of-the-mill Hagerstown set from 1968, but this set has much to offer from a rarity point of view. #2029 engine in 1968 was produced in Japan (made in Japan embossed on the trailing truck, Hagerstown, MD 21740 on bottom plate). The first and only postwar Lionel engine produced overseas. Also the #243W tender didn't have a whistle (hence it became the 234T nomenclature). The #6062-50 black NYC gondola came with one operating coupler and one fixed a year before it was catalogued in '69. The #6476 Lehigh Valley hopper was not numbered and had two operating couplers. The common #6402 gray general flatcar had two operating couplers with late AAR trucks (indicates 1968-69 production). #6130 molded red ATSF work caboose with chemically blackened frame, also with two operating couplers. Set also inluded #1025 transformer, #1103-50 lock-on packet, SP pelletss, 8 0-27 curves, 3 0-27 straight track, #6149 uncoupler track section, #2029 and #6149 directions, conventonal two-tier set box w/ unboxed components. What is interesting about this set is how Lionel altered simple rolling stock too improve them. Locomotive #2029, from Japan, is quite rare (especiallyy when their in mint condition).
