#671RR STEAM TURBINE FREIGHT SET (1952)

This was another engine reissued with an RR added to the number as a result of the Alnico magnetic material shortage during the Korean War. The turbine with an "RR" below the 671 under the cab window means no magnetraction. It and this set with the RR is the most desireable variation sought after by collectors. It came in Middle Classic or OPS Classic box with a protective corrugate liner that differs from the Pre-1950 version in that San Fransisco is not part of the logo. Tender came with liner and box was stamped "2046WX" on end flap. This was Lionel's way of designating an 8 wheel tender lettered "PENNSYLVANIA" as opposed to "LIONEL LINES". The outfit box was standard 1951-52 issue. The rolling stock is commonplace and came in OPS Classic boxes. The #3464 boxcar was either Santa Fe or New York Central. SET INCLUDES: #671 steam turbine loco w/headlight and smoke; #2046WX Pennsylvania whistle tender; #3464 operating boxcar; #6465 Sunoco 2-dome tanker; #6462 black gondola w/barrels; #6457 illuminated SP-type caboose; 8 curved O-gauge track; 5 straight track; UCS uncoupling/operating track section; instructional paperwork and special Lionel loco wrapping papers.
