2333 F-3 AA WITH HEAT STAMPED NEW YORK CENTRAL LETTERING AND GM DECAL ABOVE 'BUILT BY LIONEL'

 

  • Lionel began production of the NYC AA using rubber stamped process (usually called 'Block Lettering') for the 'New York Central' Letters. They quickly changed to heat stamped letters, which are smaller and which are indented into the body by the heat stamping process
  • GM decals (normally grey but sometimes red) are located above the 'Built by Lionel' lettering. (Another version has the GM decals on the door forward of the 'Built by Lionel'
  • We have seperate stock numnbers for each of the versions made, and this is the heat stamped version with decals above the 'Built by Lionel' letters. The block letter versions are very scarce
  • F3 AA units made in 1948-1949 with black body mold with dark gray and light gray lightning bolt paint scheme with white rubber stamped detailing stripes, wire cloth ventilator on roof and open portholes with lenses, white heat stamped lettering, Red NYC Decal on nose and black and white GM decal above 'built by Lionel
  • Two piece ornamental horns, cab door ladder, window shell, number boards, headlight lens, grab irons on nose, gray chassis, with gray painted pilot and side frames with steps, twin horizontal super power motors, no magnetraction, three sposition E unit, both units lighted, horn in powered unit (note this differs from factory description), operating coupler on pilots and die-cast fixed couplers at other ends
