Illinois Central F3 A 1955-56; brown painted orange molded body with orange lower quarter and yellow rubber stamped detailing stripes; louvered roof and closed port holes; rubber stamped lettering; Illinois Central decal on nose; one piece ornamental horns, raised molded cab door ladder, window shell, number boards, and headlightlens; black chassis with black painted pilot and chemically blackened side frames; twin vertical motors, magnetraction; three position E- unit;lighted; horn; operating coupler on pilot and die-cast fixe couplers at all other ends; note - the Illinois Central A unit was molded in gray plastic while the B unit was molded in orange plastic; two variations are known to exist 1. early 1955 production with unpainted orange B unitstripe and most typically with brown rubber stamped lettering and 2. later production with orange painted B unit stripe over orange mold and most typically with black rubber stamped lettering.
