Lionel pw-2368-02 b&o f3ab

2368 BALTIMORE AND OHIO F3 AB, PAINTED BLUE, WITH MASTER CARTON, RARITY 10

  • The B&O F3 is arguably the rarest, most desirable and sought after F3 that Lonel made
  • An unusual and extremely, extremely rare variation of the 2368 had a body molded of grey plastic with all the colors painted on. The 'normal' B&O body was molded from blue plastic, and the blue is unpainted, being the color of blue body material
  • It is probable that the blue painted cabs were produced as replacement parts
  • Has gray painted roof, white painted nose and upper quarter, and black painted lower-side stripe accented with rubber stamped yellow stripe. The yellow lettering is heat stamped
  • No decal on the nose, the nose is rubber stamped with black and yellow stripes that join the side stripes
  • Black chassis with black-painted pilot and chemically blackened side frames. Twin vertical motors, magnetraction, horn
  • There are many fakes on grey plastic shells, indeed the fakes may outnumber the originals on blue shells
  • The lettering and numbering on the fakes is silk screened, on originals lettering and numbering is heat stamped
  • The yellow stripe on originals is rubber stamped and quite grainy; on the fakes it was silk-screened and is uniformly smooth
  • Originals have a number of additional identifiying characteristic which clearly distinguish the orignals from the fakes
  • Call us if you want help in determining if a B&O on a grey shell is original or counterfeit
