RED LETTER PASSENGER CARS 3 SET

From 1954 through 1958, the Lionel Lines plastic cars were offered with new names, numbers and colors. The dome car of this series was the Clifton. The bodies and roofs of these cars were silver, with the lettering applied in red heat- stamping. The cars were illuminated and the window strips had silhouettes printed on them. This three car set includes 2434 NEWARK, and like the Clifton, continued the tradition of naming the 2400-series cars after towns in the area of Lionel's plant. The second pullman was the 2435 ELIZABETH. It is the least common car of the group , due in large part to it only being included in two outfits, rather than 10, as were the Clifton and Newark. Initially, the observation car was 2436 SUMMIT from the 2432, 2434, 2435, 2436 series. It was cataloged from 1954-1956 and its decoration marched that of the remainder of the series.
