TWO CAR ALUMINUM PASSENGER CAR SET

 

  • Built from 1952 to 1960
  • The first version of Lionel's aluminum passenger cars had ribbed aluminuim sides and glued nameplates. There was no flat channel for the maroon stripes added in subsequent years
  • The major innovation of the 1952 product year was the introduction of the extruded aluminum 2500 series passenger cars
  • There were three basic car bodies - observation, Vista Dome, and Pullman - these were used throughout the series. A baggage car was introduced in 1954.
