Lionel pw-262

262 CROSSING GATE/SIGNAL

Built from 1962 to 1969. Made from a combination of a #154 grade crossing flasher and a #252 crossing gate. The operating mechanism and gate parts are the same as the #252. The clear plastic bar and warning lamps on the gate arm were left off, but the slot in the bottom of the gate is still there. There are two reported types of packaging for this piece. One was the blister pack, and on was the large window box. Finding either kind with the packaging in good shape is tough. The blister pack had to be destroyed to remove the item and the window box is somewhat flimsy. It is thought that this item also came in both a Hagerstown box and a plain white box, but this has not been confirmed as of writing this. Having an intact box with this item adds considerable value to it.
