CROSSING GATE AND SGNAL
|Built 1962-69. It was a combination of a No. 154 grade crossing flasher and a No. 252 crossing gate. However, Lionel did start to cheap out. The o perating mechanism and gate parts are still exactly from the No. 252. The clear plastic bar and warning lamps on the gate arm were left off, but the slot in the bottom of the gate is still there. There are two reported types of packaging for this piece. One was the blister pack, and on w as the large window box. Finding either kind packaging in good shape is tough. The blister pack had to be destroyed to remove the item and the window box is somewhat flimsy. It is thought that this item also came in both a Hagerstown box and a plain white box, but these facts are under scrutiny. Having an intact box with this item adds considerable value to it.
