TRAVELING AQUARIUM CAR WITH GOLD CIRCLE ***EXTEREMLY RARE***

Lionel produced the traveling aquarium car from 1959 through 1962. It had a body that was molded in clear plastic and painted green. The majority of these trains had yellow, rubber-stamped letters. However, you are viewing an extremely rare variation, that featured gold, heat stamped lettering. What also makes this particular version super rare are the gold circles around the L ionel "L" on each side of the car, as well as "TANK 1" and "TANK 2" being printed below each tank on each side.
  • The cars that have TANK 1/TANK2 and the gold circles are from the earliest production runs. Lionel took away the circles quickly, and the TANK1/TANK2 shortly afterward. This car was most likely produced in 1959.
  • Lionel made great use of its Vibrator motor. This car uses one to move the printed graphics of fish around two moving wheels. When it was connected to track power, the interior lighting made it look like the fish are swimming.
  • This car always came on AAR-style plastic trucks with operating couplers on both ends. It also has an on/off lever sticking through the bottom. In the Doyle price guide, this item receives the highest rarity grading (8 out of 8).
