6111 BLOOD RED SHEET METAL FLAT CAR WITH LOGS - SCARCE!

| Rare blood red painted variation of the 6111 flat car from 1957 until 1958. This later, scarce version had white rubber-stamped serif letters. Tough car, rarely found in any condition. Lionel produced a series of painted metal flat cars with blackened steel racks (for pipes or logs) mounted on them. The cars had integral stamped steel end railings and steps. The number "6111" was assigned to log cars and 6121 to pipe cars, though no number of any kind appeared on any of these cars, only the word "Lionel". |
