  • The 623 was the first loco made with Lionel's new vertical motor, and, coupled with it's heavy die cast base, this loco is considered by many to be one of the best running locos of all time
  • Produced from 1952 thru 1954 ,and modeled after EMD's (General Motors's) NW2 Switcher
  • Built 1952-54. EMD NW2 Switcher, black painted body with white heat stamped lettering, small GM and Santa-Fe medallion decals. Black painted die-cast frame. came with silver horn, black bell,black ridio wheel. Front and rear coil couplers and Two axle Magnetraction. Two versions were made,ten stanchion wire handrail and a three stanchion wire handail.
