Lionel pw-624

624 C&O SWITCHER (THREE STANCHION)

EMD NW2 switcher made from 1952 until 1954. This loco and the 622 Santa Fe were the first locos with the new vertical Pullmor motor combined with the diecast base. They are considered by many to be one of the smoothest and best running Lionel locomotives. Blue painted body with unpainted yellow smokestacks, yellow heat-stamped cab number, "CHESAPEAKE & OHIO" and "C&O" medallion decals, black ornamental bell, silver ornamental horn, radio wheel, marker lens, wire handrail along hood, blue painted diecast frame with yellow painted stripe, wire hand rail detail, lighted with headlight lens front and rear, coil couplers, two axle Magnetraction and three position E-unit. The large C&O decal is prone to flaking so Like New (C8) examples must have their decals intact. There are two variations - one with three stanchions holding the handrails - the other with ten stanchions.
