6462 RED NEW YORK CENTRAL GONDOLA

Unpainted red plastic body with heat-stamped lettering (6462-125). Painted versions (6462-75) were also made, with "N" in the third panel. Metal brake wheels. Early versions had four metal steps on the corners and metal brake wheels. Earliest versions had staple-end trucks, then bar-end trucks, and final versions had AAR trucks. Also notable is that the "N" in early production was located in the second panel - in later production the "N" was located in the third panel. There are slight variations in the red pigments used when molding these cars.
