6464-275 STATE OF MAINE BOX CAR WITH BLUE BODY MOLD

Typically unpainted blue plastic with painted white and red stripe. White heat-stamped and black rubber-stamped lettering. Stamped metal frame. Produced with bar-end diecast trucks with magnetic couplers, or AAR trucks with operating couplers. Metal brake wheel. Many variations exist. Built in 1955, and also between 1957 and 1969. Types 1 and 2 were both produced in 1955. The type 1 body was molded in white plastic and had an unpainted red door. The type 2 was molded in royal blue plastic that was left unpainted in the blue areas of the car. Doors were molded in white plastic. If classified by rivet detail, both type 1 and type 2 were type 2A, with only three full columns of rivets to right of the door. To the left of the door, the second rivet column was short with only five rivets (three at the top and two at the bottom). The 6464-275 has the most door variations of any car in the series. The one thing that is consistent is that all are multiblock. A total of six types were produced.
