Lionel pw-6464-475 type 2b

LIONEL 6464-475 BOSTON & MAINE BOX CAR TYPE 2B (MADE FROM 1957 UNTIL 1958)

This is the earliest example of Lionel's Boston & Maine box car. It came in both painted and unpainted body versions - with no significance as far as the value is concerned. All of the lettering and B&M logos are heat-stamped. The frame and brake wheel are metal. The "type 2B" refers to the pattern of the rivets on the sides. Lionel made several minor changes to the body mold of its' box cars over the years. The variations center mostly around the rivet patterns on the sides. The type 2B also has a faint notch in the roof which was punched out for the 6352 ice car.
