ROCK ISLAND BOXCAR TYPE 4 HAGERSTOWN 1969

 

Built 1969, Hagerstown, Maryland. Part of a 5 car reissue series of 6464 boxcars, and the last produced in the Postwar era. The Rock Island was first cataloged in 1963-54. The 1969 models were unique in there brilliant colors and letters. Boxed examples of these Hagerstown additions have become extremely desirable. Features; Type 4 unpainted green body mold, glossy heat-stamped gold letters(without "NEW 5-53"), unpainted multiblock doors, die-cast bar-end trucks. Box Type; Hagerstown 4-sided Lionel box, rumber- stamped end flaps.
