6501 SOLID FUEL MOTORBOAT CAR - SALE RS

Built from 1962 to 1963. Red molded flat car with white heat stamped "LIONEL" on sides. 6511-2 is the correct frame. AAR trucks. The load is a white hulled boat with a brown deck. To prepare for launch the jet nozzle is removed from it's housing at the rear of the hull, warm tap water is poured into the housing, then 4 or 5 fuel pellets are popped into the housing and the nozzle is re- installed. You hold your thumb over the nozzle and shake the whole thing. This was to create enough gas to propel the boat about 10 feet.
