Lionel pw-671-1946 turbine
LIONEL 671 1946 TURBINE
The first turbine made (in 1946) has no E-unit lever through the top of the boiler (as shown in the picture!). Instead, the E-unit is controlled inside the cab. The boiler does not have a hole for the E-unit, and there is a double worm drive present too. These were made using a smoke bulb with an indentation holding the smoke pellet - most were modified using a factory distributed modification to replace the bulb with the wire- type unit, and originals with the bulb and housing are hard to find and should be considered rare. |
