PRR S2 STEAM TURBINE - 1947 ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODEL WITH SINGLE WORM DRIVE SYSTEM

6-8-6 model of Pennsylvania Railroad S2 Steam Turbine. A unique engine included with the Selective Electronic Control Sets. This set was designed to allow the uncoupling and unloading of the special cars anywhere on the layout. This required a special ECU-1 electronic control unit. Either a 4424W or 4671W early coal tender was needed with two Electronic Control receivers-one for whistle operation and other for control of locomotive E unit. Loco was manufactured with the double worm drive in 1946 only, 1947 sets have the newer single worm design. (The books do not include any refererence to the difference bewteen the 1946 and 1947 and 1948 locos in the electronicset). This loco does have a slot for e- unit and generally have all nickle rims and a smoke bulb. On these locos the E-unit coil is grounded and can be disconnected only in the cab by removing the plug from jack number 1...To run in conventional mode the plug is inserted into jack number 1.
